Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Graphic and iconic signs have always been considered by teachers as essential supports to accompany educational communication and offer support to the learning of learners. When we talk about visual learning we refer both to learning through images and to research on the design of images for education, or rather the effect of visual stimuli on specific learning objectives. Both uses of the term have been in the literature for many years. In this contribution, a recent meta-analysis systematic review is taken into account in which different design principles that teachers should take into consideration are taken into account. Given the importance that teaching material plays in distance learning - whether you work in synchronous sessions or by providing for the release of learning objects to be used asynchronously - some practices will be recalled to maximize student learning from structured digital material.
