Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] This article focuses on some results that emerged from the research activities conducted within the European project H2020 – CounteR – Countering Radicalization for a Safer World Privacy-first situational awareness platform for violent terrorism and crime prediction, counter radicalization and citizen protection. The central theme concerns vetting processes and their methodologies applied in multiple ecosystems both for Islamic radicalization processes and for those relating to the far right. The theoretical perspective that we want to draw attention to is related to cultural-narrative approaches and the declinations that these can operationally have in the field of socio-cultural intelligence. The methodological perspective, on the other hand, relates to understanding the context and operational ecosystem of these processes and those weak signals or risk factors that can be useful to the Law Enforcement Agencies to adapt and adapt the TRA-I models (Terrorism Risk Assessment Instruments) to the contemporary and varied radicalization processes. The result is a work of primary importance for national security in a global context of strong radicalization, due to the methodological-operative repercussions, due to the theoretical reflections which make it worthy of further investigation.
