Abstract
The essay presents an analysis of the sociological basis of program evaluation expecially emphasising the dimension represented by methods and techninques. The contribution of sociology to theory and practice of program evaluation is really valuable particularly because social analysis cathegories are very suitable for understanding and managing both evaluation processes and the specific social programs to be evaluated.
