Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Big data consists of the computerized collection of huge amounts of data, processed with algorithms in sequential software, to then be classified and stored to feed databases and decision-making processes. The impact on product and process innovation, know-how, even patentable inventions and distinctive signs (brands and digital branding, Mobile App, etc.) is already such as to represent a strong discontinuity in business models. The economic potential is still largely unexplored, as are the organizational, ethical and legal implications, also in terms of contracts, civil and criminal litigation and the protection of privacy.
