Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The evolution of Italian vaccination policies shows a growing attention towards adults and the elderly, partially shifting the focus from pediatric groups. This change reflects the changing demographics and the increasing rate of chronicity and multichronicity among the population. Vaccine-preventable diseases pose significant risks to these groups due to complications related to pre-existing health conditions and immunosenescence. The hospital, typically a place of specialist care, emerges as a crucial location for the implementation of vaccination campaigns, underlining its essential role in prevention as well as acute care.
