Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] International literature seems to have confirmed the existence of pathological videogame dependence, similar to other forms of addiction such as pathological gambling disorder (Kuss & Griffiths, 2012). This dependence seems to correlate with behavioral problems, social difficulties (Hussain & Griffiths, 2009), conduct disorders (Brunborg et al., 2014) and deterioration in school performance (Jeong & Kim, 2011; Skoric et al. 2009). At the moment there is no research in our country that has focused on the study of the prevalence and correlates of video game addiction in subjects in the developmental age. The objective of this preliminary research is to provide a first look at the phenomenon, identifying possible maladaptive correlates of the problematic use of video games.
