Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The international literature has highlighted the correlation between problematic use of the Internet (PIU) and development of problems of adaptation in childhood (see Lee et al., 2015; Chen et al., 2015; Durkee et al., 2012; Sim et al., 2012). Previous research on the topic has identified an association between PIUs and depressive traits, with preference for solitary activities and low quality of social relations. The prevalence of PIU is estimated between 0.8 and 18.3% (Kuss, Griffiths & Binder, 2013). The preliminary study presented here aims at verifying in a sample of elementary and middle school children whether the problematic use of the internet is associated with adaptation problems.
