Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay analyzes the journey of Thomas Stearns outside the production of glass works, his favorite medium. In particular, we study the artist's training at Cranbrook Academy and his youthful pictorial and sculptural production, trying to explain Stearns' peculiar position with respect to the American artistic environment, somehow explainable through the dissonance between the epspositive scene, market and academic environment. The contribution ends with the presentation of Stearns' sculptural production following the Venetian stay.
