Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The construct of agency - or agency - has been addressed by different disciplines, from philosophy to the most recent neurosciences. The cognitive sciences, in particular the philosophy of the mind, define the sense of agency as a sensation of being the one who generates an action, physical or mental, and all the effects related to it. The ability to generate collective actions and recognize them as such, to identify one's contribution as one's own and to act in a coordinated manner with the inter-agent can be defined as inter-agency. In a parallelism with the themes of the philosophy of the mind, the sense of inter-agency is definable as a feeling that we - I together with the Other - are those who have generated an action and its effects. These constructs are presented with reference to the classical hypotheses about the processes of social understanding and the most recent theoretical developments.
