Abstract
In the crypt of the abbey of S. Donato in Sesto Calende, among other reused material, a marble plaque, hitherto unreported, is used on a side pillar, bearing a funerary inscription, only partially legible. The form is in the wake of the early Christian tradition, the quality of formal execution is very high: the surviving text unfortunately does not allow to recognize any onomastic element. The epigraphic characteristics suggest prudently for a dating to the century VII. The contribution offers a first edition of the inscription, accompanied by useful considerations for its chronological location in the context of the early medieval epigraphic production of the area adjacent to Lake Maggiore.
