Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The use of certain Information and Communications Technology (ICT) techniques in the dynamics of the functioning of democracy has led many observers to believe that political representation has come to an end. Above all thanks to the Internet, in fact, it is possible to connect instantly and permanently with a significant number of voters, with whom you can interact directly, thus skipping all those mediations considered indispensable - at least until recently - for the construction of a political relationship. The enthusiasm that "electronic democracy" has aroused has appeared to many as a posthumous revenge of Jean-Jacques Rousseau. This essay analyzes the problems of this conclusion and discusses the last challenge that representative democracy has to face: that of immediacy.
