Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay crosses the three main themes of the Oresteia - justice, "disaster" families and politics - to lead to their conclusion, the judgment of the first Areopagus, the court of citizens, together with the single vote of Athena, in the trial of Orestes for the matricide. Although all three works of the trilogy are deliberately crossed by ambiguity, it seems to Wallace that the vow scene in Eumenides clarifies all three main themes of the entire Oresteia.
