Abstract
The report describes the results of a research based on a sample of small and medium entrepreneurs of the province of Milan. The starting hypothesis was that the Italian entrepreneurial system is rapidly changing, and that a new generation of entrepreneurs is emerging. Besides the analysis of structural characters of the enterprises, the analysis is focused on the entrepreneurs’ attitudes towards the employees and the union; on the political and cultural values of the entrepreneurs, on their attitudes toward the family. Three different “profiles” of entrepreneur have emerged from the research: the first one is characterized by a traditional background and a traditional set of values; the second one by an high level of professionalism and a low involvement in the productive activities; the third one by the high level of education and the tendency to adopt innovative strategies.
