Abstract
The private and professional life of the translator Alessandra Scalero is here retraced thanks to her letters to her sister Liliana. Alessandra was the first to translate in Italian authors such as Virginia Woolf, John Dos Passos, Michael Gold or Jacob Wassermann. The correspondence between the two sisters portrays her intellectual growth while offering an inner look on the cultural and editorial context of Fascist Italy.
