Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The study reflects on the presence of modernizing centers and currents in Bergamo between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, with particular attention to cultural infiltration in the local seminary. The osmosis between ecclesiastical education and social movements allows a less simplified reading of the modernist phenomenon, often flattened in the image of the Roman diocese, allowing particular light to be shed on the reorganization of the Seminary between 1909 and 1910, when the most compromised teachers were expelled. with the Christian-democratic renewal. In the appendix, the transcripts of the interviews held by Monsignor Giacomo Maria Radini Tedeschi, bishop of Bergamo, are reported with two of the priests who left the institute, Fr Angelo Pedrinelli and Fr Giuseppe Moioli.
