Abstract
This essay is aimed at examining Cesare De Lollis’s attitude towards the First World War. In fact, in the debate between interventionists and non-interventionists, he took a minority position, establishing the newspaper «Italia Nostra», in order to explain the reasons why Italy should take part in the conflict as an ally of Germany. After that, he volunteered and went at war, describing his experience in his Taccuino di guerra. At the end of the war, he will narrate his return to Alto Adige in the Reisebilder.
