Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The "Cratilo" deals with the problem of the conventionality or naturalness of language in a very broad context, which concerns the dialectic of Kinesis and Stasis in the whole. In this monograph, on the basis of an interpretation of the etymologies in connection with the problem of writing and orality and of the "mechane", I highlight the ontological and metaphysical foundations of "Cratylus". The dialogue contains a "labyrinth of words" which, rearranged and interpreted, takes up fundamental traits of the Platonic doctrine of becoming and of the intelligible world. This new updated edition refers to recent essays, translations, commentaries and interventions on dialogue, which deepen the hermeneutics of the text.
