Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] There are 18 letters in our possession exchanged between Federico Borromeo and Giusto Lipsio. The letters, some of which were published here for the first time, cover the period from 1594 to 1606. On the one hand, the documents bear witness to the Flemish's esteem for Borromeo culture and patronage, and on the other demonstrate the relevance of the Leipzig model, expressed in the brochure 'De bibliothecis syntagma' (1602), on the conception and foundation of the Ambrosian Library of Milan (1609).
