Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] In this contribution we return to the passage of the death of the grandmother (in The Side of the Guermantes) by focusing on the attention that M. Proust gives to the rhythm of his prose: we propose the hypothesis that it is the archetypal model of maternal vocality (pneuma) that shaped the phrasing configuration of these famous pages. To conclude, we look at two English translations of these same pages, to comment on the sensitivity of translators to the vocal tessitura of the "little music" of the Proustian style.
