Abstract

The article studies the setting up of the Cistercian library of Morimondo abbey (Milano) and focuses on the activity that has been exercised for at least three decades by the local monk Beltramo de Reoldis, not just scribe, librarian and treasurer of the abbey between the 13th and 14th centuries, but also hagiographer as author of Vita s. Franchae, Cistercian abbess. The Appendix presents the analytic description of two ancient passionaries (Como, Bibl. del Sem. Vesc., Morimondo 5 e Morimondo 6).
