Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay focuses on the Bergamo Seminar from the last years of Camillo Guindani's episcopate to the episcopate of Giacomo Maria Radini Tedeschi. In particular, it focuses on the renewal promoted by some teachers, sensitive to science, to the critical-historical method and to the aspirations of the Catholic social movement. The friction caused on the traditional plant of seminarian studies, marked by a strong Thomism and oriented to spiritualize the priest, produces tensions that provoke the expulsion of the intellectually more dynamic professors. In this way, in contrast to a certain historiography, the essay demonstrates the porosity between seminarial institution, modern culture and civil society during the years marked by modernism.
