Abstract
In 151/50 BC Scipio Aemilianus was sent from Spain to Africa to obtain elephants from Massinissa. This study reconsiders the chornology of this mission and the military and political role of Scipio in Spain and in the Carthaginian crisis of the Third Punic War.
