Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The transmission of values, within a phenomenon characterized by instability, mobility and change, such as migration, is a tool for defining the characteristics of possible future scenarios. If, in post-modern society, values disintegrate and alternate in unstable axiologies, undermined by instances of relativism or, on the other hand, valorized in pluralistic contexts, it is important to underline the relevance of values in the experience of the migrant. Since the process of socialization is closely linked to the social context in which individuals live, in the case of migration, the life context acquires an even greater significance, making this task more burdensome. Immigrant parents must therefore face greater problems than those that engage native parents. With regard to the religiosity of the children of first-migrant parents, studies and research seem to indicate two main trends: assimilation to the emigration society or, on the contrary, the radicalization of the original religious identity. The ways in which values are transmitted from parents to children constitute, therefore, an extremely important intergenerational juncture in migrant families, representing a challenge that will contribute significantly to defining the quality of future coexistence, through the sharing of common values and principles between natives and new citizens.
