Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The idea of renewal is part of the genetic code of Islam. However, there has never been so much talk about renewal (tajdid) or reform (islah) of Islam as in the last two centuries, since when Muslim intellectuals are ulama '(scholars) have begun to rethink their religion to respond to changes brought about by the encounter with modernity and European colonial rule. The debate has rekindled in recent years: first the revolts of 2010-2011 have again strongly proposed the theme of the relationship between religion and politics, so much so that some authors have not failed to establish a direct link between the "Renaissance" (Nahda) eight - the nineteenth century and the revolutionary ferment of 2011. Then the rise of ISIS and global jihadism raised the question of the link between religion and violence.
