Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The preface to the Italian edition of the volume "The public service. Cultural history of televisions in Europe "by Jérôme Bourdon intends to emphasize the importance of" public service broadcasting "on the small European screen. Furthermore, the relevance of the comparative study carried out by the French author towards the history of "European televisions" is highlighted, crossed transversely by the persistence of some myths that have conditioned its design: the "techno-ideological myth", the “Myth of control”, the “pedagogical myth” and the “myth of the audience”.
