Tra mediazione e incomprensione: la ricezione editoriale e le letterature straniere. Il caso delle Meduse latinoamericane in Mondadori

[Autom. eng. transl.] If the "transmission processes" of the text (Tanselle) are, together with the translation, an integral part of the process of adapting the text of a work to a new cultural and literary context "in translation", the traces of editorial mediation preserved in the archives of the most popular publishers of the twentieth century retain important clues useful to understand what was the cultural and literary perception that the publishing world - in our Italian case - had against foreign cultural and literary contexts. In the case of Latin American literature the archives show how editorial mediation has had to overcome many obstacles: logistic, of time, but also mistakes caused by literary or cultural misunderstandings. Specifically, this intervention aims to outline what was the editorial approach of the Mondadori house - and more specifically to Vittorini - in the dissemination of works from Latin America, demonstrating how the editorial and intellectual apparatus that dealt with mediation editorial for the Medusa degli Stranieri was the author of remarkable successes but also of sensational oversights that, in some way, influenced the totalitarian perception of Spanish American literature in Italy.
