Abstract
From Lisbon 2000 to Europe 2020 the European strategies for growth and social cohesion have put the active welfare paradigm at the core of theirs agendas. But, if not properly contextualized, that paradigm leads to some criticisms. In this framework it's crucial to recognize the importance to invest in lifelong learning as a pillar of an effective (and inclusive) active welfare state.
