[Autom. eng. transl.] What can the relational-symbolic model developed by Cigoli and Scabini offer to the understanding and care of the adoptive bond? A lot of research has been carried out on the subject since the nineties of the last century, having as a reference the relational approach. Here in particular we will reflect on the theme of the double. We call 'double darkness' the inherent abandonment and infertility and the 'double birth' inherent in the difference between coming into the world and becoming part of a generative-generational context. It is therefore appropriate to dwell briefly on the matrix of thought that characterizes the relational-symbolic model. It is a psychodynamic theory of generational ties that considers the 'family' as the original organizational structure of human relations.
