Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The theme addressed by the essay is the identification of cultural and artistic relations between the Savoy Turin court and the Milan Ambrosiana, which was created as a book collection and gallery of works of art by Cardinal Archbishop Federico Borromeo in the first decade from the seventeenth century. In particular, starting from the counting of the correspondence between the Borromeo and Duke Carlo Emanuele I of Savoy, various personalities are identified, such as the Jesuit writer Giovanni Botero and the humanist architect Alessandro Tesauro who played important roles on both fronts. there are also several documented exchanges on the source of the respective collections, particularly in the field of portraiture.
