Abstract

In this chapter we review a semi-structured methodology—Therapeutic Assessment—that uses results from psychological tests as a basis for effective psychotherapeutic intervention. We first introduce the conceptual underpinnings of Therapeutic Assessment and provide the latest developments of the model. Next we review the empirical literature on the effectiveness and efficacy of Therapeutic Assessment with adult clients. The chapter illustrates the application of the principles and practices of Therapeutic Assessment in all the steps of the model and through a clinical case exemplification.
