The Social Security Cost in the European Integration

Abstract

The essay is divided into two issues. The first part provides a historical reconstruction of the path of the establishment of the ECSC and analyzes the recent historiography. Then the essay discusses widely the social policies by the High Authority until the creation of the European Social Fund by the EEC.The historical analysis considers the consultation of primary sources and sometimes new collections at the Historical Archives European. The study focuses the complex regulatory process on the bais of original sources and also it discusses the financial inititiatives for the harmonization of labor market. This system of equalization was relasted to the welfare initiatives. The theme of the evolution of social spending in the first phase of the European integration enlightens up some bureaucratic mechanisms of European institutions and up the dualism the relationship beetwen national and suprantaional levels.
