Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] What is a blog? Today the answer is probably obvious but there was a moment when this word was played again by Internet users. First among the "2.0" tools of the network, blogs have been a central step in the transformation of web users' communication practices. They present themselves as an artifact shaped by techno-social instances from whose interweaving over time different arrangements have emerged up to the consolidation of a standard. It is a particular digital artifact that allows us to build at the same time forms of personal expression and social relationship. The volume collects the results of a qualitative social research path on Italian bloggers, proposing to reconstruct the social history of the blog in Italy, tracing a path that has unfolded since the beginning of the 2000s and is projected towards the future. The volume is completed with a strong interpretative component that is consolidated in the key themes of social research on digital media (computer-mediated communication, identity, memory, community) and in paradigms such as the Social Shaping of Technology.
