Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The Voice Test on Mental States (TVSM), an innovative tool in the Italian panorama, is an evaluation test of the theory of mind in children with typical development from 7 to 11 years. It examines the understanding of a wide range of mental states through a particular type of auditory stimulus: the human voice. Also useful in the case of atypical development (for example pervasive developmental disorders, visual disabilities, etc.), it investigates this specific aspect of mentalistic competence to obtain information on shortages to be filled and skills to be developed and strengthened. Easy to administer and rapid correction, it is divided into a real evaluation test - listening to the 20 test-stimulus sentences that will have to be evaluated by inferring the speaker's mental state - and in a control test (which involves recognizing the gender of the speaker of the same audio tracks) It was validated and standardized on a sample of 586 primary school children. The TVSM is aimed at psychologists, teachers, speech therapists for clinical, educational and research purposes to deepen in children the themes of understanding motivational, emotional and epistemic states and the role that auditory indexes play in informing about the mental state of the speaker in communication process with peers and adults. In the enclosed CD-ROM: • TVSM presentation video • Hearing stimuli • Response cards / Correction grids • Score evaluation tables • Glossary
