Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The earthquake that struck central Italy last Wednesday, August 24th, devastating entire countries presents an important novelty for the narrative of disasters, which has the flavor of a very studied and resilient action in line with a current institutional communication mode: the emphasis placed on people extracted from the rubble. In other earthquakes, in fact, there has never been such nagging attention in updating the data on the missing, the victims and the people saved. On the surface it might seem a narrative modality to encourage emphasis and great emotion on positive and optimistic aspects of a dramatic situation in itself, in reality the construction and use of this method reflects the obsessive need to balance an absurd number of deaths in 2016 in Italy causes earthquakes.
