Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] In the context of scientific and technical knowledge, the specific words to designate things, phenomena and processes with the necessary precision, uniqueness and clarity, are called terms. The terminology, from the twentieth century, is no longer just, however, a set of sectoral nomenclatures, but a rich and stratified scientific discipline, open to the evidence of the social function of language as a means of communication and aimed at an optimal transfer of knowledge into one or more languages, through a work of acquisition, definition, description and diffusion of concepts belonging to specialized knowledge.
