Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The work presented here analyzes the communication practices between peers mediated by new technologies. In particular, the use of these communication methods in a group of adolescents of foreign origin resident in Milan was examined in depth. The objectives of the research consisted of: 1. identifying technologically mediated communication and socialization practices, specific to young adolescents of foreign origin; 2. highlight the role of these innovative communicative practices in orienting the migrant and qurello group of the natives, in terms of acculturation processes; 3. to define if and how these behaviors allow spaces for creative action and cultural mediation between the multiple cultures of belonging; 4. identify possible strategies for identifying construction in transnational terms. The qualitative investigation involved the analysis of single cases in depth. The sample was identified in two technical institutes of the city of Milan and consists of a group of 20 boys and girls of foreign origin aged between 15 and 19 who had started schooling in Italy. beyond the first grade class. It has been selected according to a criterion of advanced knowledge of information technology. The data was collected through individual interviews, focus groups and a virtual shadowing period. On this occasion it was possible to collect multimedia materials produced by the children themselves. The results of data analysis, analyzed according to a qualitative methodology, are presented and discussed from the point of view of flow theory and acculturation and transnationalism processes. The results delineate the emergence of specific communication practices of this population, in which the socialization processes implemented seem to renew the traditional Italian / foreign cultural dichotomy to open new symbolic spaces of representation and self-construction.
