Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] This research is aimed at providing an overview of the impact that the contract with increasing protections has had on the evolution of employment in the period 2015-2017 and, consequently, on two important dimensions of the organization of work and the competitiveness of companies: amount of investments in vocational training and profitability per employee. The empirical analyzes carried out exploit the information contained in the questionnaire of the 2018 RIL survey on Italian companies. The analysis will show how the relaxation of the rules on layoffs is accompanied by a weak growth in employment in the period 2015-2017 and how the latter tends to translate into an increase in the propensity to invest in training. Similarly, the econometric evidence, albeit short-term and limited to the estimation of simple correlations, seems to testify that the contract with increasing protections has not contributed any significant stimulus to the growth of labor productivity.
