Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Neologism introduced by Schelling in the Historisch-kritische Einleitung in die Philosophie der Mythologie (and borrowed from ST Coleridge, in an anti-allegorical function, in order to explain the origin of mythology. According to the "tautegorical" explanation, in mythological figures there is an identity between being and meaning, these figures are not mere representations of "something that stands out from them, but are really what they mean:" Mythology is not allegorical, but tautegorical. From the point of view of mythology, the gods are real beings, not they are something different, nor do they mean something different, but rather only and exclusively mean what they are ».
