Symbolic Representations and Diagrams of the Lord’s Prayer in the Twelfth Century

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The contribution takes into consideration some diagrams that have as their theme the "Our Father", produced in the monastic and scholastic environment in the 12th century, and draws some more general conclusions on the comparison, but also on the common features of the two cultural worlds. In particular, it emerges that these representations do not limit themselves - as has often been indicated - to suggest mnemonic paths, but their main intent is to represent, and contribute to reflect more deeply, on the rhythms of reality, understood in the theological sense.
