[Autom. eng. transl.] The knowledge in the field of cognitive difficulties has known, in recent decades, considerable progress thanks to a significant amount of studies that has contributed, as known, to modify not only the scientific terminology and, with it, the theoretical construct that is at the base, but also the cultural approach, thus refining the educational actions carried out in this area. At the same time, however, it is necessary to consider how the investigations relating to the so-called limit intellectual functioning (FIL) have not been able to benefit from the same attention, determining a slowing down towards the understanding of a reality which, although known for some time in the scholastic world, still represents today one of the greatest challenges for educational and pedagogical intervention in general
