[Autom. eng. transl.] The volume reconstructs the artistic path of three prominent women of the Italian twentieth-century scene by analyzing the texts in a perspective that is now perceived as necessary for the investigation of a century that has reconfigured the communicative structure and profoundly modified the public. Cultural objects, part of a complex system in which a dense network of references and influences operates, these texts give expression to the collective imagination and, above all in the intense and protected perimeter of the live arts, often put into question models and social identities, values common, clichés and standards of behavior, desires and tensions. The "strategies of the comic" operating in them, in the double meaning of strategies with which laughter is aroused and of strategies with which comedy becomes the means to achieve other objectives, are at the center of an analysis that finds precisely in this dramaturgical production feminine some of the outcomes not only earlier, but also more incisive, in questioning significant social knowledge, including certainly those related to the image and role of women.
