Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] With this volume we publish the fifth research conducted by the Patient Advocacy Lab of ALTEMS. The Alta Scuola promoted this laboratory seven years ago with the aim of combining the key themes of economics and healthcare management with support for the growth of the world of patient and citizen associations involved in healthcare. Faithful to its third mission of committing itself to social development and the protection of the weakest, the Catholic University strongly desired the growth of this activity to be conducted in support of those who deal with protecting and safeguarding the health of the most vulnerable subjects, such as cancer patients and those affected by chronic and rare diseases. The PAL has as its mission the growth of the skills and management capabilities of this world so that it is increasingly able to fully represent the point of view of those who need an efficient, effective and fair NHS. And it does so with research, as this volume demonstrates, with training that has at its core two Level II Masters, national and international, with counseling activities to support associations and with the various agreements stipulated with the Italian Regions. This research has as its theme participatory healthcare, that is, the good practices developed by civic organizations to promote healthcare policies in favor of patients. The case studies collected were analyzed to build effective and replicable action models, going to see which skills are necessary to develop to build winning policies.
