[Autom. eng. transl.] The book intends to offer an introduction to the History of Religions, as an academic discipline that studies - on the basis of the historical-comparative method - those phenomena that are commonly qualified as 'religious'. Specifically, the work offers a history of the discipline in question, an overview of the scientific disciplines that bring together religion and religions on the basis of methods different from those proper to the history of religions, a deepening of the questions connected with the definition of religion 'and with the use of the historical-comparative method. He then tackles the main historical-religious types, with particular attention to those of 'polytheism', of 'monotheism', of 'dualism', of 'monism'.
