Abstract

The work, which maintains the structure of a thesis, is divided into four chapters, to which are added an introduction, a conclusion, and an extensive bibliography, which unfortunately does not include studies in Italian despite the interesting contributions on the subject in recent years. The chapters are devoted respectively to the definition of law in Aquinas' Summa Theologiae as a starting point for Suárez (pp. 27-54); to free will as the basis of morality (pp. 55-138); to the moral qualities of acts and moral being (pp. 139-198); to the foundation of laws and the origin of obligation (pp. 199-284).
