Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The objective of the survey is to make a comparison between young Italians and those residing in some large European countries (France, Spain, Germany, UK) regarding the use of the Internet during the lockdown that national institutions have imposed. during the months of March-April 2020 to combat the Coronavirus pandemic. The first paragraph deals with the issue of the information use of the network, with particular reference to the way in which old and new media integrate into the information diet during the crisis period. In the second paragraph, we focus on social networks, the “place” of the network where information functions and participatory practices are found to live in close contact and in continuous hybridization. By analyzing the use of social networks by young Europeans, it was thus possible to explore, in addition to information retrieval strategies, the attitude towards sociality and participation understood as the ability to give / receive support through recourse to the online sphere. At the same time, it was also possible to observe how the use of social networks during the lockdown is linked to the containment or increase of the levels of anxiety and panic on the part of its users. Finally, the use that young people have made of digital platforms linked in particular to some services (home shopping, media entertainment, e-commerce) was observed and the relationship of young people with the digital "translation" of some activities was analyzed central to everyday life tout-court: work, study, spiritual life.
