Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Through Lombard historiographical sources (above all fourteenth century) - starting from the master Bonvesin de la Riva, to proceed with historiographers such as the Dominican Galvano Fiamma or the notary Pietro Azario - above all the urban transformations of the city of Milan are outlined (guaranteed by the increase in agricultural and commercial productivity) which, from the beginning of the Visconti lordship, was conceived and structured as an economic center of European scope, in which the magnificence of the stately homes and the scope of their commissions had to emerge, however, also proposed as an element of propaganda and of political affirmation of the Visconti family, as evidenced by passages more or less a of the coeval historiography
