Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The widespread socio-political instability of recent months, represented by protests and open violent clashes in the squares of many cities around the world and the different profile assumed by the new scenarios of the terrorist threat, must necessarily question those who deal with the response to these events.
In particular, attention should be paid, according to the often disregarded crisis management principles, to all phases of a crisis: from prevention / planning to effective response once the crisis has manifested itself with all its transformational scope.
In this context of great changes and new challenges, where global threats are undergoing substantial changes that also affect the way in which these phenomena are narrated and treated, a reflection on how to manage these phenomena is appropriate. In particular, an in-depth study of the skills necessary for those who, at the front line at an operational or institutional level, are involved in understanding and responding to these changing scenarios is worthwhile. In this perspective, the peculiarity of soft skills emerged as a new methodological-operational approach, useful for the implementation of European and international perspectives that are characterizing the management of phenomena linked to extremism, radicalization and terrorism and which can thus be identified: community policing; multiagency approach and community intelligence. The three areas are interconnected with the emerging needs to understand the profiles and characteristics of risk, as well as the widespread, global, interdependent scenario within which this risk is generated and manifested.
