Abstract

The paper analyzes the Mantuan music scene in the years 1809-1870, looking at the relationship between the Accademia Filarmonica and the Scuole di Musica. The essay highlights the changes and the cooperation between these institutions and other entities, such as the ancient Mantuan Jewish community. These studies are based on archival researches and feature never-before-published documents and sources; some of which have been transcribed in the appendix
