Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] In response to the theme of the Volume centered on the rituality linked to the constructive and foundational act during the Roman era, the A. submits to the debate the very rich archaeological documentation related to underground works typical of soils in a state of imbibition. These are amphora structures placed in the ground to improve its capacity for lift and therefore for remediation interventions that today we would call geotechnical or hydraulic, depending on the purpose. Carrying out a comparison between excavation situations and archaeological contexts, skills and awareness of the ancient technicians with respect to the problems of soil and construction, but also attention to the legal regulations and to the dictates of religion, the A. analyzes the terms of the problem, coming to wonder if even for the reclamation the need for rituals existed: by asking a series of questions on the matter, it dwells in particular on one of the reclamations with considered amphorae, given the presence of intact finds whose morphology depositional may be absolutely consistent with a foundation ritual. He concludes by expressing the need to operate during the excavation of amphorae structures a more 'sensitive' reading of the lithological and material context, in function of the recording of all those 'unrepeatable' data, which could also illuminate the sacral implications of foundational interventions of this nature .
