Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Written almost in one go at the age of twenty-five, the "System of Transcendental Idealism" remains one of Schelling's capital works. From the vision of nature and spirit as two aspects of a single process, it follows that the philosophy of nature and the philosophy of the spirit cannot be but indissolubly connected in their essential distinction and reciprocity. the first, starting from the objective element, exhibits its subjectivity; the second, also called "philosophy of the self" or "philosophy of intelligence", moves vice versa from the subjective element to show its objectivity. One shows the ideality of nature, the other the reality of the spirit. Art, the "keystone of the system", communicates to the ordinary conscience, not only to the philosophical one, the original union and identity of the subjective and the objective. Beauty constitutes the point of convergence of the infinite and the finite, of spirit and nature, of the conscious and unconscious. aesthetic intuition thus captures in the artistic work, albeit unpredictably and instantly, the sensible reflection of the original one-whole.
